Which debts can be included in a DMP?

A Debt Management Plan is designed to help you pay off your unsecured debt at a more affordable rate . Unsecured debts could include:

  • Personal loans (but not hire purchase agreements unless the item has been returned)
  • Credit cards

DMPs are not designed to include priority debts. These include debts that have been secured against your home and other assets, as well as utility bills. • Hire purchase agreements
  • Council tax (current bills)
  • Water (current bills)
