#473112 This has no effect on your credit rating as it is a soft search but is used by companies claiming to try to find beneficiaries of deceased people's estates. However, it has been suggested that it can also be used to trace people who owe money by painting a rosy picture of the fact they may be entitled to an inheritance.

#473113 Hi Jane

Thanks for the reply.

All my financial accounts are and have been without blemish for nearly fifteen years, including Barclaycard. The reason I mention Barclaycard is just that the entity shown as doing the search goes by the name Barclay. If they are one and the same (which I doubt) I don't know why they did a search.

Maybe I about to inherit millions. I doubt that as well!

#473114 You never know! Just type it into google and you will see there have been several questions about this to Money Savings Expert and the Consumer Action groups amongst others.
