#213297 Well would seem that UK has signed an extradition agreement - but to answer your question I'd need to know how debt is legally dealt with in UAE - in other words does default become a criminal offence at some time?

#221335 I can confirm that in the Middle East, debt is regarded as a crime punishable by prison. I have lived in Saudi Arabia, the UAE and for the past 18 months in Qatar. Getting into debt, even exceeding your overdraft here is regarded as a criminal offence.

I can also tell you that going to prison here is something you seriously want to avoid, unless you have heard more positive things than I have about Arabian attitudes to human rights! I've driven past a couple of the prisons out here and that's as close as I ever want to get.
