Are you eligible for bankruptcy?
To be eligible for bankruptcy, you must satisfy both of the following criteria:
- You must be a resident of England, Wales or Northern Ireland. Scottish residents would file for Sequestration , which is Scotland’s equivalent of bankruptcy.
- You must be able to pay an upfront fee of £680 to apply for a bankruptcy order. There are charities and grants available that could help you meet this cost, should you satisfy their criteria. The fee can be paid in instalments, but the application won’t be completed until the full payment has been received.
