Last month, Payplan conducted a study into Christmas spending and asked 1,000 people about their finances in the run up to the festive season.
The survey found that many people rely on credit cards, overdrafts and, for some, even payday loans, and that 1 in 5 people feel under pressure to spend more than they can afford at Christmas.
