Debt Management Plans (DMP)
A Debt Management Plan is an agreement between you and your creditors to repay your debts. It will put you back into control without the need to borrow more money. Simply put, you make a single affordable payment to us every month and we distribute payments to your creditors on your behalf. What’s more, we do this without charging any set up or administrative fees.
Individual Voluntary Arrangements (IVA)
An Individual Voluntary Arrangement (IVA) is a formal, legally binding agreement between you and your creditors to pay off a percentage of your debts over a fixed period, often as little as 5 years.
It’s a popular debt solution for people with a regular income who wish to avoid bankruptcy and its associated penalties.
Typically, an IVA agreement will see a creditor agree to write off a proportion of the debt owed to them upon satisfactory conclusion of the arrangement. In return, the debtor agrees to pay an agreed proportion of their monthly income towards the debt for a fixed period. Could this be right for you? People still don’t like to talk about bankruptcy. It’s true that the implications of going bankrupt need careful consideration but it can enable you to make a fresh start with your finances. You will have to give up any possessions of value and any interest in your home. If you run a business, you will be required to close that business and any employees will need to be dismissed. However it will allow you to become debt free quicker and regain control of your finances.
If you want to talk about bankruptcy and discuss what it could mean for you, call us free on 0800 280 2816.
Protected Trust Deed (if you live in Scotland)
A Trust Deed is a legally binding agreement between an individual with unsecured debts who is unable to pay his or her creditors and a licensed Insolvency Practitioner (the Trustee). Once signed, you are committed to the terms of your agreement (usually 4 years, but this can vary).
