Weekly Debt Question
Written by PayPlan on 18 March 2011
Can a bailiff force entry into my property?A bailiff cannot use force to gain entry into a domestic property on their first visit: they can only use “peaceable means”. Entering through an open or unlocked door, or via a window without causing any damage or disturbance, is acceptable. Forcing their way past someone at the door is not.
REMEMBER YOU DO NOT HAVE TO LET A BAILIFF INTO YOUR HOME.For more information about bailiffs then please read my Bailiff Blog If you are struggling with debts then please call Payplan on 0800 280 2816.
