#1229 Hi everyone, Im pretty new to the internet as well so if Im asking questions that have been asked many times already Im really sorry but go gentle with me, here goes.

Im 24 years old and I have unsecured personal debts of 21,000k. I have recently been made unemployed and Im not really sure about bankrupcy. Ive had all the threatening letters and people knocking on the door and I feel the only thing I can do is go bankrupt. First of all how do I go about doing this? is there any procedures I have to follow? Im aware of the problems I will have in future regarding credit and mortgages etc, but I cant live like this any longer, so I feel its the only thing for me to do. Will it stop me getting a job in future? Im a commissioning engineer. How long does it take to declare myself bankrupt?Im sure a lot of people on here have had similar experiences so any advice would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance. mike.

#1242 you will have to pay £310 deposit but not the £140 fee if you are on income support. you need to fill in a form an EX160. You will have to go to the court but it doesn't take that long and it is quite a simple process
