#167048 I've just kicked off my DMP with CCCS and have yet to hear anything from most of my creditors (Egg have acknowledged my initial letter but that's it so far).

Today I received an acknowledgement letter from American Express saying they want me to contact them by telephone with a view to being enrolled on their specialist programme called 'Regain' run by their partner company RMA which aims to 'assess and organise' my finances with a 'tailored solution' taking into consideration my 'total indebtedness not just to American Express'.

Does anybody know what this is? Is this AMEX offering to arrange a DMP for me??

You'd think that they would realise that I'm already getting professional impartial advice from CCCS.

#167064 Well my freind, I don't know about Amex, but I figure I'm a couple of weeks behind you... my paperwork arrived in the post today and suddenly it's all very real...

I have to say the Amex offer doesn't sound like a debt solution, it sounds like an evangelical church. Hello Ohio!

I haven't come across this one before, but it sounds suspiciously like some sort of consolidation loan to me. RMA aren't really a "partner company" - they're a DCA of American origin (and one of the more aggressive ones) and they handle accounts for other lenders as well as just Amex. Don't phone, but just forward their letter on to CCCS.

Ah, but they do realise! That's why you can bet that their "tailored solution" is going to be tailored to their advantage rather than yours.

#167179 Am - Ex tried that "Regain" sh*te on with me. I told them " no thanks, I'll do it myself".... RMA have been absolute b*stards to deal with. They are one of my least creditors, but they've given me more bother than all the rest put together(bar Mercers and MBNA). A real pain in the backside !!
Even though I've told them to communicate in writing ONLY, they still phone at least twice a day, they've phoned my work, and they've even got hold of my mobile number(haven't a clue how??)... like I say... they are real b*stards.

#167589 Well today I had a message (at work  ) from RMA asking me to call them. I duly called and politely enquired why they had contacted me at work when I specifically told them not too. The rep I spoke to was very polite and said that they only wanted to check that I was in fact signing with CCCS and that they like to do it verbally. She then said that in future they will contact CCCS directly. No mention of Regain or anything else...

I then rang AMEX and told them to remove my work phone number from their database and to get RMA to do the same...whether they will or not we'll see....

#167607 Sounds innocuous enough! I don't return calls anymore, but in the days when I did, I always followed them up immediately with a letter summarizing what had been agreed. It avoids any unfortunate "misunderstandings" and is useful ammunition should it be needed at a later date. :)
