#201529 well done! :D

We have been on the council house list since May 2007 and I have just written a very nice, creepy crawly letter to the head of the housing dept to try and expedite our case

#201558 Thanks every one I'm currently paying £395 a month plus bills, council flat is £200 a month plus bills hopefully I can keep some of the savings as I will have to declare it.With the council in my area they advertise every week in local paper and you can bid for a maximum of 3 properties per week for any properties within your allocated band, I guess if noone bids for the same property I guess you get it, otherwise it goes to who has been on the list the longest.

#201577 That's excellent Jurgen, as it's rare for a single person or a couple with no kids to get a council place. My OH is registered blind and the council in Oxfordshire basically told us we don't have a chance as he works, so as he saw it we can pay for private tenancy. It's always worth trying though, as different areas have different rules 8)

#201600 I am in the Nottingham area and must admit was pleasantly surprised as was told could be up to 2 years, I know Nottingham pretty well and the area offered can be off putting with its reputation but where I am looks pretty quiet.
