What has the Government done to tackle the Coronavirus?

The Prime Minister recently announced a UK lockdown, which means people are being told to stay home and certain businesses have had to close as a result. This has affected millions of people in varying degrees of employment.

The Chancellor announced plans to help support the many facing an income shock, but thousands of people are still reaching out for financial advice. New information is being released on a daily basis via Government press conferences.

What has PayPlan noticed during the Coronavirus?

PayPlan has been inundated with calls from people who are worried about debt and what the Government’s latest plans mean for them. There has also been a rise in the number of self-employed cases coming through online submissions, which highlights the isolation this group has felt since the first budget announcement surrounding the Coronavirus. Hopefully, there will be clarity on what support is available to self-employed workers very soon.

A few words from PayPlan’s CEO, Rachel Duffey

“The Coronavirus has affected the incomes of millions across the UK and although the Government’s rescue plan is welcomed, there are many who still need support and guidance.

“We have put measures in place to allow our staff to continue offering vital support whilst working from home. I am pleased to say that all of our advisers are working remotely and are on hand to offer free debt advice online or over the phone.

“We are busier than ever and are eagerly awaiting a decision from the Treasury on further funding so we can keep our services up and running throughout the lockdown period, and the lifespan of the Coronavirus.

“If you need advice, we are here for you via our debt help form or through our freephone number, 0800 316 1833 .”
